Meeting between Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad (OBOR) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, 31 JUL – This is the first meeting between Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Malaysia. The team from Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad was led by its president, Nive Yong and they were warmly received by the Director of HKTDC Malaysia, Hoh Jee Eng. The purpose of this meeting is to understand the roles of both parties in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) by China and to explore opportunities for future collaboration.
As mentioned by President Nive Yong, the newly registered Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad plays the role of a collaborative partner in facilitating trades and services between Malaysia and China. Currently, their area of expertise include real estate development, land trading, market consultation, education, training and development for Malaysians with regards to the Belt and Road Initiative. By facilitating trades between China and Malaysia, the cooperative aims to help improve the relationship of both countries as well.
Within the short span of a year, the cooperative has accomplished numerous achievements related to the Belt and Road Initiative. such as getting involved in multiple international trade talks and discussions between Malaysia and China. This helped to cement its role as the collaborative partner in expanding local businesses by leveraging onto the Belt and Road Initiative.
Besides that, President Nive is leading a team of 4 to Guangdong, China in August as the Malaysian representatives to participate in the ‘Belt and Road Initiative: Digital Entrepreneurship Course’. The team aims to adopt the success formula of China’s digital businesses and use it to help expand Malaysian businesses through the Belt and Road Initiative.
Director Hoh Jee Eng has also shared about the development of HKTDC in Malaysia for the past 21 years and its role in facilitating trades between Malaysia and Hong Kong. As trading demands continue to rise from both sides, HKTDC Malaysia has developed multiple services to enhance the sustainability of Malaysian businesses. In fact, the HKTDC is organizing the ‘Belt and Road Summit and Exhibition’ in Hong Kong this September whereby businesses from across the world will gather to explore new collaborative opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative. She expressed that more business organizations should work with Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad in representing Malaysia so that the local businesses can maximize the benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative.
This meeting has been fruitful for both parties as they agreed to collaborate on several projects related to the Belt and Road Initiative. Before the meeting concluded Director Hoh represented the HKTDC and gifted President Nive from Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad a token of appreciation to symbolize the new relationship between both organizations.
Representing the Cooperative OBOR Dagang Berhad were Nive Yong, Michael Choo, Loke Wan Hang, Cheong Chee Qing, Stacey Goh, Lau Kok Hwa, Chew Kok Wah and Liew Tian Long.
